I'm making greeting cards to sell locally. When I use pictures the I take for cards, what is illegal?

I'm wondering what I need permission for. For example I have some great photos that I took at my local zoo. Am I permitted to use those since I took them on my own? Also, I want to photograph parks and landmarks to use on the cards. any issues there?

Can I be sued for using these images?

Check out the "photographers right" pdf file you can download from my first source. It was written by a lawyer and details the true legal rights you have when taking pictures. For example, anyone in public is fair game since you waive your "right to privacy" when you enter a public place. Now, if you're selling photos there could be some more issues with people, but if they're in the background it should be ok. As far as businesses, parks, landmarks, etc. that's all fair game so long as you're on private property. No one can demand your film or memory card with out a warrant (even police). Businesses cannot demand that you leave so long as you are on public property when you take your pictures. Exceptions are when you use long zooms and such to get a picture of someone who isn't in public. That's how the paparazzi get in trouble. Read the photo rights below and print a copy to carry with yourself if you are questioned in public.
Reply:yes, you can be sued if the management of those parks and landmarks doesn't allow pictures to be taken.

another thing, you're doing business, you need to legalize that by registering your business and you need to pay taxes with that...wel just in case you wana play safe.....

you can still continue your business illegally, just don't place in the cards any evidence that you're the one making them.. like your name, or signature....
Reply:Thats like asking can i take a picture of any house on the road and be sued.

It would suck.

Dont listen to any of us!

There are rules for that kind of stuff and you need to do reserch on them yourself...

It's no longer legal to publish current photographs of the Eiffel Tower at night without permission. Technically, this applies even to amateurs.

This one i didnt read, good luck.

Reply:As long as it isn't a photograph of a person, u need there permission for that, then it's OK, and if there is a do not photograph sign i would imagine that u wouldn't have taken a photograph anyway so that wouldn't matter.
Reply:no, not unless they have a DO NOT PHOTOGAPH sign on them
