Why do greeting cards cost so much?

Don't get me wrong. I know women love them but how can a folded piece of cardboard cost $5? Is this a conspiracy to rid men of their money?

Why do greeting cards cost so much?
i don't know about other women, but i don't like greeting cards-they are mass produced and too impersonal.

i'd much rather have a handwritten poem or a little note than a card i know a million other women accross the country are opening as well.

Reply:I would also prefer to have a handmade card - or a note that says something about how the person feels. Greeting cards are nice yes, but a heartfelt sentiment is romantic.
Reply:i dont no but there r some for $2
Reply:You could always send a e-card! They are typically free!
Reply:I'm not sure why they cost so much. And most of the time they aren't even very nice. Personally, I would prefer something homemade like a poem or a homemade drawing or card or something.
