You can upload a picture and email a photo card. And it's free. Some of those other sites are now getting greedy and charging for ecards.

How can a promote greeting cards that I do artisticly by hand???

Set up a website, or advertise locally. Start with friends, and move on from there.

How can a promote greeting cards that I do artisticly by hand???
Talk to a few local book or stationary stores. Offer to supply them with a display unit and to take back any unsold inventory if it doesn't sell. How can they say no when there's no risk to them? It sounds like an awesome idea. Good luck to you!
Reply:I think in the yearly Artist marketplace book there is a section for greeting cards
Reply:you can open a store in ebay

ebay is a really good medium for growing your clientele, and you dont haveto "auction" off your work for a piddly sum either.

you can also go into your local newsagencies, and florists and discuss with them whether they would purchasethem for resale. many will consider this if you givethem the option that if they dont sell you will refund the money for the unsold ones

I am interested in marketing t-shirts, greeting cards, original art for an artist friend. How should I start?

Heather is a gifted artist - her designs are on www.wackyequestrian.com - and she asked me to help market them. I have not done this before. Any suggestions where to start? Local stores, yes, but would like to get to home shopping network, anything to do with horses.... any ideas?

I am interested in marketing t-shirts, greeting cards, original art for an artist friend. How should I start?
I don't know about the home shopping network, but marketing ideas that could very well get a lot of exposure would be:

Trade shows: Google or Yahoo Equestrian Trade Shows, if she cant afford a booth she can simply attend with family/friends wearing her shirts, carrying business cards she can hand them out to everyone that comments on the art work

She can approach (via letter, email or phone call) ranch owners, bed and breakfast owners and offer to sell her products there if they have a small shop

Look up schools (high schools and colleges) that have horse back riding in their curriculum and send information to the head of the department. Hold a contest on your site and register the contest (goggle online contest listing services)

Good Luck

Embossing greeting cards with custom artwork?

I'm looking for someplace I can purchase cards blind-embossed with custom artwork - that is, I'd send an Illustrator file, and they'd do the blind-embossing.

Embossing greeting cards with custom artwork?
i have no clue what blind embossing is but start with local print shops and wedding places that send off to have invitations done, they might be able to tell you who does their invitations.
Reply:1) Die costs can be expensive depending on the intricacies of the die. The least expensive way to make a die for embossing is using a magnesium based material.

I found an interesting embossing demo here http://blog.simpleplants.com/?...

Reply:tomato soup - Sunday ad supplements to hook shoppers looking for cheap items for a shopping trip for food

greeting cards - in store poster - since people wont make a separate trip just for a card and will forget the ad even if they do before they would get to the store - The ad needs to be close in time and space to the act of selecting a purchase.

How long do you keep greeting cards?

Our three children receive many cards on birthdays and special occasions. Should the cards be kept, or is it okay to throw them out?

How long do you keep greeting cards?
Whether to keep or recycle greeting cards is a very personal matter. If the greeting card is hand-made, then it may be very sentimental to the receiver who may wish to keep it for many years. Some greeting cards, such as Christmas or holiday cards, are often kept until the next holiday season.

Particularly beautiful cards can be framed, kept in a scrapbook, made into a collage or donated to organizations that use the card fronts to make new cards. Or, you can make your own new card from used cards by attaching the card front to a new folded sturdy paper or card stock!!!
Reply:some card's I don't throw out. Other's I throw out a few months after I recieved them
Reply:I keep them until I look at them one day and say to myself why do I keep everything? Then I throw them out.
Reply:I have cards i have saved all my life.
Reply:forever
Reply:I still have a couple from 15 years ago! lol
Reply:keeping them is tedious. keep it for next colorwash of ur house
Reply:I throw them out after a couple of days. My mom kept some of the letters I got from when I was little.....I have a great one from my now-deceased grandmother. But no greeting cards.

They're kind of impersonal, I think.
Reply:I never.. ever throw out any of my greeting cards..I actually Keep it forever..
Reply:I HAVE KEPT CARD OF EVEN 17 YEARS OLD, AND THE OLDEST ONE IS WHEN I WAS BORN. I THINK WE SHOULD HAVE TO KEEP THEM AS A SOVENIER , TO REMEMBER OTHER PEOPLE . THEY CHEERISH US IN OUR BAD DAYS THAT THERE ARE SOMEONE WHO REALLY CARE OF US AND ALSO THEY ARE LIKE BLESSINGS OF SENDER. AND KEEP THEM UNTILL THEY ARE NOT TORN OR HAVE EXPIRED.
Reply:I throw them away right after I read them, honestly I have no use for them and I hate collecting junk.

I would keep one from my boyfriend though those are special.
Reply:I don't keep them any longer.
Reply:Until the day after, then they go into the trash!
Reply:If you place sentimental value on them like I do, then probably forever or until you somehow lose them (whichever comes first :)). I would not recommend keeping them if you receive excessive quantities per year (if you are famous or something :) ), or simply don't keep them if you don't want to become a pack-rat like me. :)
Reply:I keep the ones with photos of kids. And the one from my mom for my last birthday. The card from mom is very glittery and says she was going to get me a little dog I could dress up and keep in my purse then on the inside it says then I remembered you aren't crazy.

I like knowing someone thinks I am not crazy and really glad I didn't get a purse dog.
Reply:I think greetings cards are a symbol of love towards the person it has been given to. Categorise them according to the bond between the giver and the receiver. Then keep the ones who are close to your heart and you can discard the ones who aren't much significant in your life!
Reply:for years
Reply:I have 1 that I have had for over 10 years, my wife just keeps giving me the same anniversary card every year, started out as a joke, but now it's a tradition.
Reply:For decades.
Reply:Sentimental value of cards decide their own life.
Reply:I am so glad other people keep their cards too, people think I'm weird because I keep all my kids cards and write on the back of the card the present they received

I like to go back thru the cards to just ponder :)

How and why is ageism found in greeting cards?

How? Smart marketing folks found that there was a market for it. Why? older folks haven't lost their senses of humor...we love Maxine.

How and why is ageism found in greeting cards?
The sexless older woman is a common theme particularly in humor and greeting cards. Jokes concerning older women usually ascribe to the older woman the following characteristics: she is viewed as lonely, frustrated, and shriveled (Palmore, 1971). Palmore (1971) asserts that these attempts at humor merely reflect real societal attitudes.

What are the best selling photography greeting cards? Which images sell the best?
Actually, the best selling cards are the ones with old photos with humorous captions.
Reply:Animals. Cute pets. Dogs, cats, rabbits, chicks, lambs- the cuter the better. Dress up your pet and think of funny captions. People love animals! See the link below for some examples. Good Luck!

How long do those singing greeting cards last?

Like all those new hallmark ones

How long do those singing greeting cards last?
some of those cards have a tiny battery that last. from what i remember, i received a birthday card dated 1991 from greece and i know it still play the tune, probably its rare that i open it up...so maybe it depend on what is the battery lifetime and how 's the quality made.

pretty sure hallmark is the top of the line and it will be great to listen to it once in a while and that will preserve the battery.

Last year I gave my sister a Hallmark card with one of her favorite songs--what she didn't know was that I was at the Hallmark store, looking over the selections as we talked! It was that easy!

Wal-Mart has some singing cards, too, but not nearly the selection of a Hallmark or mall-style (Kirlin's, e.g.) greeting card store. As for ordering, designing, etc., no ideas but it would be nice to find one.

How much to you spend on greeting cards a year? whether its for family/friends or business?

Zero. We used to send them out but with postage the way it is and the fact that it's about a one minute deal for the person getting it we stopped doing it.

We have also noticed during Christmas that we must be in the majority on that.

We now concentrate on giving nice gifts to people and clients that have supported us and continue to support us.

Anyone know how I can create and print greeting cards without Publisher?

I don't have Microsoft Publisher and was wondering if there are any other ways, maybe in Word to set up a greeting card....

Anyone know how I can create and print greeting cards without Publisher?
First, there are SEVERAL card programs on the market, and some are probably downloadable. Most in the stores are free with rebates. You can use word if you have the talents. All you need to do is create a card like you would in Publisher, except do it in word. Word will show you the size of your page and everything. I don't think Word has a template specifically for this. It's a pain to create one from scratch in Word, but it can be done.
Reply:Good luck. Gotta be creative on this one, but it's possible. Report Abuse

Reply:Microsoft has a free template section where you can download greeting card templates for Word. See link, below.
Reply:Sure, use the fonts and graphical stuff in word, edit it, table it, then /print screen.
Reply:You can use work for creating greetings cards etc, I use open office for doing these types of desk top publishing, there is writer which is similar in the way it works to word, it also has a gallery and full set of drawing tools to add pictures, shapes, lines, colours etc. Also it has draw which is a drawing programme which will add text to drawings as well as all of the drawing tools and options to add pictures %26amp; files etc, I find both of these easier to use than microsoft word. There are some templates which can be downloaded and it will handle microsoft documents, also free to download.
Reply:Since you mentioned Microsoft Word, then, sure.

In your document set up, set your paper size to whatever you want, either to the size of card stock you have, or to any size you intend to trim down to.

For the outside of your card, set up two columns. Whatever you set for your margins, double that for your "gutter." You will only be working on the right side column for the front of the card. You will have to hit "enter" or "return" many times until the cursor reaches the second column. Add your text and insert your graphics as you would any other document. Check your work in "print preview. Remember, you will only be looking at the right side.

The inside layout works the same way, two columns, margin, double that size for the gutter and hit "enter" untill the cursor shows up on the right side.

For inside and out, I recomment you "center" everything to make it easier.

Make test prints on a plain piece of paper until you figure out how to feed your card stock properly so everything appears in place. I cant tell you that, here, because it depends on how your paper feeds.

Reply:If you download the program from Mpix Press, you can do layout work for cards at home. I doubt you could print anywhere near as good as they do for a dollar each for cards with envelopes, so buy from them.

If you want to see how one would look, you can print it at home from their program. Check it out. The download takes a long time though, even with a cable modem.

It seems like any printer I ever bought has a greeting card program with it, so see if you have one on your printer CD that you did not install.

You can also make your own cards in MS Publisher, which may have specific paper product templates or it may not (if not they have their own templats and instructions on how to fold the paper.

Reply:Print Shop Pro has a lot of capabilities and is great for cards and many other various productions, i.e, brochures, sales sheets, marketing materials, etc. It is very flexible and is far better that Microsoft Greetings. I don't know of any way to get it for free, and is is disc-driven, so you can't borrow it and install it either. However, it's well worth the price and pays for itself in the amount of use you will get. Try a discount software retailer for the best price. Good luck to you.

How would I do artwork for greeting cards?

Work with whatever medium you're comfortable with. A collage on hand-cut Bristol board would look appealing if done properly. You may or may not want to transfer your work to your computer, or even do it entirely in a digital format.

How would I do artwork for greeting cards?
Depends wht is the occassion for d greeting....if it is miscellaneous, then I'd say, paint a couple of flowers...or u could do a little bit of thread painting of a white sheet of paper. On that , use some nice pen or paint for writing some nice thoughts in some nice font. Or you can take some paper cuttings and stick them on a peice of paper to make it like a collage. I think you would like that!

It 'ld be better to collect information about this to any computer shop.

How do you emboss drawings already on greeting cards, without using stamps?

Do you mean "emboss" as in using embossing powders?... or "emboss" as in embossing a depressed area by drawing on a paper with a "ball stylus" or something similar?

If you're thinking of using embossing powders, you can go over the area you want to add the powder to with a special "embossing pen"... for larger areas you'll need the felt one which has a larger nib than the ball-point type.

Or other things will take awhile to dry too, so they can be used for adhering embossing powder... here are a few:

...ordinary ball point pens

...some colored "painting pens" (they have brushlike nibs) that have "slow-drying" inks

...glycerin from the drug store (apply with any implement you like)

(after applying, pour on the embossing powder, tap off excess, then heat over a lightbulb or with an embossing heat gun till the powder melts)

If you meant the other kind of embossing, I'd guess you'd just trace a metal ball-point stylus around any areas you wanted to emboss (indent) while the card is on something soft like a newspaper section or sheet of craft foam, etc..

If you want those areas to be indented *outward* toward you rather than inward, do the tracing from the back side of the card. (there are various ways to get the pattern on the back side, but the simplest might be to trace the lines lightly with a thin ball stylus from the front, then turn card over and use those lines to emboss properly on a soft surface... or use a piece of carbon or sewing transfer paper upside down).

Do they have greeting cards for weddings in Turkey?

Where can I buy greeting cards in Ankara? I have tried looking in many places but they dont seem to have greeting cards. I am thinking along the lines of a moneyholder/ card for a wedding I am attending. Thanks.

Do they have greeting cards for weddings in Turkey?
Is there a place in Ankara that sells pretty paper? Here in Germany, we have a craft store that sells colored paper. I would go there and make a moneyholder using bright colored paper. On the front, write lyrics of a song in the bride and grooms language, that is pretty and romantic.
Reply:If you can't find one then you can either make one or have one sent to you from another country. I'd opt for making one though since it would seem more personal.
Reply:You could always make one and take it to the nearenst Kinkos and put it on nicer paper or ask for other ways to make it nicer. You could also go to a crafts store and make one like that. Good luck!

How to design and manufacure greeting cards?

The market research associated with the development of a successful greeting card is just as important as attractive graphics or appropriate verse. Research has pushed large greeting card companies to expand traditional product lines and offer cards for pets, step-siblings, divorce, weight loss encouragement, company lay-offs, and more. Some smaller greeting card companies specialize in the production of cards that appeal only to one or two specific markets. Greeting card companies require a diverse talent pool in order to produce commercially-successful product, and these forms employ everyone from cartoonists to market researchers to pressman who print the cards.

The manufacture of greeting cards varies greatly depending on the size of the corporation. Successful greeting card companies put a great deal of importance on business research, marketing, and creative design because these help determine what cards will sell well.

Generally, before the artists and verse writers begin to put pen to paper, large companies support in-house researchers that learn all they can about potential buyers. These researchers find out all they can about consumers' wants, needs, and concerns that can be addressed in a greeting card not already in production. The researchers use statistical analysis, market research, and research on lifestyle changes. Once the Research Department has an idea for a new card line, they utilize focus groups, surveys, and controlled store tests to gauge the potential of the new product.

At the core of our uniqueness is our 'diamond'. We are born:

Full of calm, joy and hope; Intelligent, curious and creative; Zestful, courageous, strong; Cooperative, loving, lovable and giving, And most importantly loving ourselves.

However - as life progresses and the people around us have a vested interest in our conformity - this is stopped and an attempt is made to make us conform to others image of what we should be. And thus the defence mechanisms are born. These are for us to survive in a world which demands our subserviently.

Those who would have us believe otherwise are just people who have to control. This is their defence mechanism.

The right wing and extreme religious need us to be good little conforming lap dogs so we will obediently follow them into their hell, which is what they create on earth to justify the mythical heaven.

THROW OFF YOUR CHAINS - DISCOVER HOW UNIQUE YOU ARE - YOU DO NOT NEED A GREETINGS CARD - JUST THE GUTS TO EXPLORE WHO YOU REALLY ARE.

Believe me - if Hitler had been helped to see his and others specialness 100 million people would not have died.

A stationery store wants to estimate the total retail value of the 300 greeting cards that it has in its inventory. What are the upper and lower limits of the 95% confidence interval estimate of the population total value of all greeting cards that are in inventory if a random sample of 20 greeting cards indicates an average value of $1.67 and a standard deviation of $0.32

A stationery store wants to estimate the total retail value of the 300 greeting cards that it has in its inven
95% confidence is close to +/-2 sigmas.

So 95% of the sample ranges between $1.03 and $2.31.

Multiply them by 300, and with 95% confidence, the total retail value is between $309 and $693.
Reply:95% confidence interval is roughly +/- two sigma.

So, $1.03 to $2.31 per card.

You can do the math from there. :-)

They will print your design on any-thing (t-shirt, cup, card, etc). You just provide a design and market it.

They provide marketing as well, but you need to come-up with some-thing really eye-catching.
Reply:I am not sure whether you are refering to online or offline greeting cards. Whichever is the case, you could easily start up a website with your designed greeting cards samples.

Promote this website using various advertising strategies and methods. Get your visitor to buy your online greeting cards through an automatic backend payment merchant. Re-direct the visitor to another page where they could down load the greeting cards after their payment. This will made the whole process automatic.

Find out more by clicking my profile and you will see a link inside my profile page. It will tell you how to setup a successful online business step by step regardless of your experience and background. It will also tell you what are the reason behind each step, how you could go about doing it and where you could get the necessary resources free or at a low price.

Hope that it will be helpful to you.

How do you organize the greeting cards you want to save?

Hi Joy. I save greeting cards in a box designed for photos. I made my own dividers with tabs so I can put them in alphabetical or occasion order. Make sure you get a box large enough for the larger cards you may be saving and a different color from the ones you use to store other items. This methos works well for me. ~Barb

How do you organize the greeting cards you want to save?
I have done it a number of ways. I use the video boxes with dividers. If your end point is going to be scrapbooking, I would put them behind dividers for the person's name or divide by years or seasons or celebration. I still have some that my children got from their grandparents when they were very small. I plan on putting them in a sleeved acid free photo album and give to them at Christmas. Good Luck.
Reply:I would get a shoe box (b/c it is cheap) and put little dividers that say...male birthday, female birthday, get well, congratuations, holidays, misc. and just file cards under each category. I would put little sticky notes on each card about important notes for each card, such as "sarah gave me this with a beautiful vase"

If you want to display them for people to see, then I would use a scrapbooking format and glue them only to the back. I would organize them by date. and then next to each card put a little note about the moment you got them.
Reply:I bought used card racks when a store went out of business. I also have an accordian type folder.
Reply:I believe they sell boxes expressly for that purpose. If not, try using a photo box (they sell them anywhere). It's really just a pretty, glorified shoebox that comes with cardboard dividers that you can write subjects on. That would seem the best way; that way, you can section off cards by holiday and have dividers as indexers.
Reply:I use an accordian folder from the office supply section at any store. It works well for labeling so that I always know what catagory to "file" them in. Personaly I use simple catagories like Birthday, X Mas, Easter, and so on. That way when those cards go on sale after the Holiday, or whenever, you can buy a bunch and keep them on hand.
Reply:I'd use a scrap-book format and its easier to store and you can add a little more information to the page to remember the occasion.

Then scan an put it up on a website... I'd love to see the end result of that project.

Good Luck.

What are some good subjects to photography for greeting cards??

Well , what type of stuff would you buy ? I guess i would buy pics of cats , nature shots , flowers . So i would suggest taking some shots of your cats , outdoors , no flash .

Something like this :

http://www.flickr.com/photos/rainriver/2...

Get a shot of there face , and make sure that it's in focus and that there is no flash , if you use the flash the pic will look washed out , and your cat will have weird eyes .

Since mothers day is coming up maybe flower-ery shots will sell , same thing with the flower make sure the flower is bright , and that there is no flash used , and follow the rule of thirds , like this :

Etsy is good, so is eBay. You may also want to look into http://www.cafepress.com - you can open your own "online" store with all sorts of things to sell. They are one of the leading places to sell items such as: greeting cards, postcards, mugs, posters, prints, DVDs, etc. Anything you make can be reproduced and sold to the general public through them. Also, do you have a website? I personally would love to see your work.

Can a non-professional sell greeting cards made with great animal pictures that she/he took ?

do you have to be a professioanl photographer to get the copy rights for your photos?

Can a non-professional sell greeting cards made with great animal pictures that she/he took ?
My mother has been selling greeting cards for years with pictures she took...

I don't think she makes a lot of money but she keeps doing it.
Reply:You can have greeting cards made from your animal pictures to sell but please keep in mind where you obtained your pictures. Many zoo's have policies against professional photographers taking pictures for resale. You often need permission in advance and I assume pay some sort of fee. It is similar to model photos you need a "model release" from the zoo. Otherwise if the animals are pets or captured in their native habitat you can sell photos that you took as you own the copy right when you pressed the shutter.

Good Luck!!

Bill
Reply:A non-professional cannot sell pictures, because at that point, by definition, you have become a professional ;-)

Anyone who takes a picture owns the rights to that picture (now whether you can make $$$ off the pictures depends on what they are of......... )

So, no you don't have to be a pro to have the rights to your work.

I want to make postcards/greeting cards out of my photos and sell them in local stores.?
A local printer could do the job - price shop on line if the local guys are too high. Check with a local office supply store to get them reproduced - then package them in clear bags. A friend prints and sells her own to the local Real Estate offices. The agents use them as thank you presents to home buyers. The pictures are all local land marks and sites.
Reply:do you mean what website will let you sell them locally?? or do you mean what website will print them and package them?

go to your local reprographic store and make a deal depending on how many you want to print at a time. Ask if they package. If they do not, you can buy clear plastic envelopes and package them yourself. Before I did any of this I would make a portfolio and go to local stores and find out how many they think they could sell in a given period and give them your wholesale prices...

I highly recommend Etsy.com as a great place to start selling your greeting cards. Setting up a "shop" is easy and affordable with charges of 20 cents for each listed item and a 3.5% sales fee.

As a plus, their site's templates make it simple and pleasurable for buyers. Because their market is primarily for original handmade goods, you should have a much better and targeted buying audience.
Reply:ebay??? Good luck!

Do you make your own greeting cards?

What is your favourite method? Stamping, Tea-bags, decoupage etc? Can you recommend some good card-making websites? Also looking for places I can find free verses.

Any tips on selling cards and for how much? Thanks

Do you make your own greeting cards?
I make needlepoint coasters and attach them to card stock paper with printed computer sayings in them. I don't buy cards for any occasion.

When my grandkids come for summer vacation, we all make cards for all occasions, and then they give out boxes of cards to other relatives for gifts.
Reply:Yes, I make cards like crazy. There are tons and tons of websites out there with ideas and inspiration. I like stamping the best and use different embellishments. Just type rubberstamping card techniques in a search and you will be mesmerized for hours!
Reply:While I have made my own cards when I couldn't find a specifically appropriate one (i.e. dad's 80th birthday), unless your cards are spectacular there's not much of a market. You can buy cards as cheaply as 99 cents, but many of the premium brands are bought for name recognition, i.e. "When you care enough to only buy the very best."

Plus card makers make thousands at a time which cuts their cost. What does the card stock cost you? How about the cost of a stamp, the ink? How do you figure the extras like glitter, charms, ribbon and lace? And, not least, what is your time worth? Below are sites that may help with your questions.
Reply:I often go to card making classes at my local scrapbooking store, i'm going to one in a couple of weeks time.
Reply:Yes, I make my own cards. I use my computer's photo editing program, and fit two cards on a sheet 8 1/2 X 11. I use my own photos, or maybe clip art from the web, and text. Once in awhile, I trace stencils and cut out the shapes on colored paper from http://www.scrapbookscrapbook.com. I've had my cards in two shops, but they don't sell well, due to card shops selling cards for 88 cents, and they're bigger than my 4 X 6 cards. Mine are priced at $1.95. Tourists will pay more than locals, in a rural area like mine.
Reply:I stitch designs or sayings on perforated paper and cut the front of a blank card to make a frame. After attaching the perforated paper to the back of the front page frame, add a plain, colored, or foil backing to show through the holes.

You can also add embossing designs around the framed part.

Although I don't sell mine, local handcraft shops often buy cards for sale in my area. People who do craft work seem to appreciate that done by others.
Reply:Made cards using stamps and sold the big ones for R10.00 each and the small ones for R5.00. I found a wouderfull book with verses at the local Libary. I have just learned to do some on my embriodery machine. If you go to www.embrioderylibary.com they show you how to do it.

I would like to know how you do TeaBags cards.

Why do greeting cards cost so much?

Don't get me wrong. I know women love them but how can a folded piece of cardboard cost $5? Is this a conspiracy to rid men of their money?

Why do greeting cards cost so much?
i don't know about other women, but i don't like greeting cards-they are mass produced and too impersonal.

i'd much rather have a handwritten poem or a little note than a card i know a million other women accross the country are opening as well.
Reply:not a problem! glad i could help! Report Abuse

If worse comes to worse I could always make my own, but my time is limited.

Thanks so much for your advice :)

Where can I find a good $ deal on unique greeting cards (blank inside) in bulk with variety designs?
Look for NOTE cards - not greeting cards, they will be blank and come in a wide variety. Good site below.....

Reply:WalMart has boxes of note cards; I would guess that Target and KMart do too.
Reply:There is a company that sends me catalogs by the name of "Current", they are reasonable and you can probably find them online.

Googled and can't seem to find out - but left the website because it's cool.

Interesting, because we have family in Germany, and they recycle cards, because they can't find them there, either.

But there are Turkish manufacturers who export wedding invitations, so this makes no sense...

Ask in the Turkey travel section of Answers.

How could I submit a set of my geeting cards to a greeting card company?

There is a book that comes out every year called "Photographer's Market Guide." There is also one called "Artist's Market Guide." Both will tell you of companies who buy images including greeting card companies. It will also give you the company's requirements for submissions. Each one has different requirements. You can probably find a copy of the book at the library.

Bluelotus is wright, I used to advertise in "Photographer's Market Guide", it is a good source, even to look for your competitors.

Printmaster 17, how do I make greeting cards using my photos ?

Ok, I got this software and I am 56 and it seems so detailed and all. I have taken many pictures I would like to put on the front of cards and send as gifts to others. Is anyone familiar with it and want to give me some easy basic steps so I don't have to read the 64 page manaul :) I have uploaded pics and done quite a bit etc, but this has so many options. Anyone want to help an oldie but goodie ?

Printmaster 17, how do I make greeting cards using my photos ?
I have used an earlier version of this software, so i hope it is the same.

You can import your pictures to the clipart file.

You can also take them from existing files and load them into a generic card template provided by the software.

It is very simple to do, but its hard to explain without seeing it in front of me.

Start with the template provided with the software then try to edit or import your pictures where you want them

Has anyone seen the new political greeting cards for both Democrats and Republicans?

They're pretty wild. A lot of birthday cards. Some will have a picture of Sen. Clinton on the front with a dig at her inside, some have Bush/Cheney poses with digs at them. Like for instance, I bought a birthday card for a friend who just detests Bush. On the front, it had poses of him and a chimp next to each other with the exact same looks on their faces - about ten different pictures. Inside it says: "Evolution or Intelligent Design? You Decide."

I've been around a long time, but I don't ever remember seeing greeting cards in a Walgreen's that were so politically pointed and aimed at making fun of the other side. What do you think about this?

Has anyone seen the new political greeting cards for both Democrats and Republicans?
The next time I am in Walgreen's I am going to look for these.

I guess I kinda have mixed feelings about this, on the one hand I think it is completely funny on the other I'm not so sure we should quick to ridicule our government leaders.

The current President however is an exception. LOL

You have to also wonder if some marketing strategists haven't picked up on how divided the country is along party lines and taking advantage of a clear opportunity.
Reply:It's quite frankly disrespectful! There are other ways to protest a government that you feel is inadequate besides ridicule!
Reply:Ridicule is one of the best forms of protest as it takes the pomposity out of the opposition.Hard to take someone seriously when you just had a good laugh at them....
Reply:I think PJ Orouke's quote should be made into a card.

"Democrats say everything in America is wrong but they fix nothing. Republicans say nothing is wrong in America so they fix that".

95% confidence is close to +/-2 sigmas.

A lot of good free choices here..

Take Care.
Reply:This is very simple you have to figure the average price for the cards then multiply that by 300. To find net profit you will have to subtract the stores cost for the cards from the retail figure.

What happened to the yahoo free online greeting cards, the really good quality ones?

Please don't tell me they are still there because they are not, they were replaced by some trashy ecard site that wants to be paid for ecards that aren't even 1% as good as the ones they've replaced.

Do you like greeting cards with sound?

I see alot of sound greeting cards from the stores and I sometimes dance to it. I bought some to mail to my sisters' birthday coming up soon.

Do you like them? why or why not? Be descriptive in your response.

Do you like greeting cards with sound?
yes i love them !!!

i cant be really descriptive

theyre just really fun and it puts a smile on your face everytime you hear it

and it can brighten your day if you get one.

i love them. maybe its cus not all cards are like that and it makes them special? hahaa
Reply:I don't think sound automatically makes a card good, but a good card with good sound is awesome! I got a hoops and yo-yo audio card for my birthday, and I LOVED it - it made me and my husband laugh every time we opened it!
Reply:I think the singing cards can be really cute or they can be really annoying - it really depends on the card. That being said... A music card should never be sent to anyone with kids - it will be played over and over again and is more likely to cause a migraine than a smile.
Reply:No, I am so tired of music on everything.

I though the first one or two were cute but now it seems obnoxious.

Do you still write greeting cards and send it thru snail mail?

i love recieving cards thru P.O and keep them,,,im a little senti.how 'bout you?

Do you still write greeting cards and send it thru snail mail?
i have this question in Christmas category...

anyhoo... greetings is greetings wether its snail or electronics sent... great feeling to be remembered and count in someone thoughts especially during holidays!

so Merry Christmas Everyone! Merry Yappasko sa Y!AP..
Reply:I believe all thank you cards must go thru the old fashion mail. They are more personal and tell people that they are worth the trouble.
Reply:yes, my family does. this is the first year we had our kids get in on it too. it was quite an enjoyable family bonding time.
Reply:Until recently, I was not very sentimental. Now that my dad is ill, I've realized the importance of the little things like giving and recieving cards. E-greetings are cute and convenient, but it's nice to have cards come through the mail with someone's signature on it saying that they love you. It gives me a nice warm fuzzy feeling and who doesn't like to place cards around their home during the holiday? Greeting cards make some of the best decorations! When I got a greeting card from my mom this week, it put a smile on my face. I'm going to send some myself.
Reply:zzz... yes i do. especially writing bills for customers on their payments. i still send them through snail mail. hmmm... beer... zzz...
Reply:Yes very much. Some people are just too lazy to do it that they no longer know how to write the proper address and postal code.
Reply:Not sent one Christmas card this year, all done through e-mail.
Reply:Yep - I mail them out on December 1 every year. It's a way to reconnect with family and friends, and to let them know you're thinking of them. An email seems so impersonal - a card can be taped to the wall and kept for years. Plus, no worries about downloading media players or importing a virus!
Reply:NOE
Reply:i make my own greeting cards...it makes me happy knowing my loved ones feel special knowing that i take my time custom making their own cards to fit their liking.
Reply:I went to www.snapfish.com where I had uploaded pics of our vacation, I ordered picture cards and included a letter of things that happened the previous year.

At the bottom of the letter I also pasted pictures from our vacation, I included the address for a MySpace we created with vacation pics, videos, and a diary of events. I make it a point to send these out to ALL our friends and relatives. Some I only hear from at Christmas. I usually send my cards out the beginning of December, then I enjoy the letters or notes I receive back.
Reply:I love it more than e-mails or text messages...
Reply:Since the advent of technology, I'd been sending e-cards only but I still get about a dozen or less cards thru mail but not "snail" (not the slow kind) because they are all from friends here in the States.

Merry Christmas to one and all.
Reply:2 weeks ago, I mailed some Christams cards to friends. I They mailed me back A Christmas card. ..Except one. How rude!! lol
Reply:Yes. I usually do it for Christmas and birthdays for relatives and close friends who are out of the country already.
Reply:Sure thing. It's more with human touch. %26lt;*-*%26gt;
Reply:Never sent a Christmas card to anyone in my entire life. Never received one either.
Reply:No. I don't have much time anymore for this kind of thing. But it used to be a fun thing to do in the bygone years. I used to keep all the cards when I was still single however, I had to throw them away when I got married.
Reply:So many of my older aunts and uncles don't have computers. I enjoy sending and receiving the regular snail mail cards. I write a personal message to each person.
Reply:Yes only for Christmas and to the ones that dont have a way an email address . Mostly grandparents, and some older people.
Reply:I do both.
Reply:I LOVE IT TOO. I think it's more personal with cards then just e-mails. Especially for close family and friends!
Reply:Yes. I sent out about 60 christmas cards. I send b-day cards to my family. It's fun to get something in the mail.
Reply:This is my first Christmas away from home so I did send cards to my friends/classmates back in the Phils. And knowing the slow pace of the "snail mail", I did my mailing

NOV 10...and I clearly marked all envelopes with - "may be opened for inspection" - that way, the PO will not pry it open thinking there's cash. Also, I didn't not seal the envelopes...instead, I just inserted the flap right in...no one is tempted coz it's obvious there's nothing there but a card.

So far, of the 3 dozens I sent, more than half have acknowledged that they have received it.
