How long do you keep greeting cards?

Our three children receive many cards on birthdays and special occasions. Should the cards be kept, or is it okay to throw them out?

How long do you keep greeting cards?
Whether to keep or recycle greeting cards is a very personal matter. If the greeting card is hand-made, then it may be very sentimental to the receiver who may wish to keep it for many years. Some greeting cards, such as Christmas or holiday cards, are often kept until the next holiday season.

Particularly beautiful cards can be framed, kept in a scrapbook, made into a collage or donated to organizations that use the card fronts to make new cards. Or, you can make your own new card from used cards by attaching the card front to a new folded sturdy paper or card stock!!!
Reply:some card's I don't throw out. Other's I throw out a few months after I recieved them
Reply:I keep them until I look at them one day and say to myself why do I keep everything? Then I throw them out.
Reply:I have cards i have saved all my life.
Reply:forever
Reply:I still have a couple from 15 years ago! lol
Reply:keeping them is tedious. keep it for next colorwash of ur house
Reply:I throw them out after a couple of days. My mom kept some of the letters I got from when I was little.....I have a great one from my now-deceased grandmother. But no greeting cards.

They're kind of impersonal, I think.
Reply:I never.. ever throw out any of my greeting cards..I actually Keep it forever..
Reply:I HAVE KEPT CARD OF EVEN 17 YEARS OLD, AND THE OLDEST ONE IS WHEN I WAS BORN. I THINK WE SHOULD HAVE TO KEEP THEM AS A SOVENIER , TO REMEMBER OTHER PEOPLE . THEY CHEERISH US IN OUR BAD DAYS THAT THERE ARE SOMEONE WHO REALLY CARE OF US AND ALSO THEY ARE LIKE BLESSINGS OF SENDER. AND KEEP THEM UNTILL THEY ARE NOT TORN OR HAVE EXPIRED.
Reply:I throw them away right after I read them, honestly I have no use for them and I hate collecting junk.

I would keep one from my boyfriend though those are special.
Reply:I don't keep them any longer.
Reply:Until the day after, then they go into the trash!
Reply:If you place sentimental value on them like I do, then probably forever or until you somehow lose them (whichever comes first :)). I would not recommend keeping them if you receive excessive quantities per year (if you are famous or something :) ), or simply don't keep them if you don't want to become a pack-rat like me. :)
Reply:I keep the ones with photos of kids. And the one from my mom for my last birthday. The card from mom is very glittery and says she was going to get me a little dog I could dress up and keep in my purse then on the inside it says then I remembered you aren't crazy.

I like knowing someone thinks I am not crazy and really glad I didn't get a purse dog.
Reply:I think greetings cards are a symbol of love towards the person it has been given to. Categorise them according to the bond between the giver and the receiver. Then keep the ones who are close to your heart and you can discard the ones who aren't much significant in your life!
Reply:for years
Reply:I have 1 that I have had for over 10 years, my wife just keeps giving me the same anniversary card every year, started out as a joke, but now it's a tradition.
Reply:For decades.
Reply:Sentimental value of cards decide their own life.
Reply:I am so glad other people keep their cards too, people think I'm weird because I keep all my kids cards and write on the back of the card the present they received

I like to go back thru the cards to just ponder :)
