How has the images/wording used on greeting cards changed from the 1950s to today?

just curious for a graphics exam...

How has the images/wording used on greeting cards changed from the 1950s to today?
I'd say changes in words: religious/sentimental to more secular

In images: drawn/graphic to photographic it's very rare to see a hunting scene or a carriage in a snowy street or even a roaring fire in a decorated fire place these days.

You should consider also the added on glitter and embossed effects that used to be prevalent - go and look in your Gran's keepsake box for confirmation.
Reply:I agree with everything that Kathy has just said.

I have to add that in the late 50's we designed a school Christmas card (it was a competition) We used scraper board. they were printed by a local printer in just one colour - I think the choice was red or black and white. Mine was chosen. It was a robin on a branch.

This year my 10 year old grandson won his school comp. for designing their card. I knew nothing about it until they were delivered - and guess what it was a robin on a branch. It was multi coloured!

So, some things don't change.
Reply:A LOT more humor and irreverance.

At least, I HOPE so, as some of them are mine!
Reply:Less paint. More Photoshop.
