What characters are the most funky/contemporary to put across a range of greeting cards?

I'd like to create a range of cards that isn't cutesy or fluffy but more graphic but don't just want cats, dogs, rabbits etc.

You could do them like the modern paintings ,not too abstract sort of very simple but with contrastig colours and lines .or a better idea ink and wash something like an old fashioned metal bridge (the wraught iron curly sort)with someone riding one of those penny farthing bikes over it and not much detail and a wash in one colour on that rough hand made paper oops i might want to do it meself now!!!
