What would be the best way to advertise my greeting cards?

I am a photographer who turns my photos into greeting cards. I need to know the best way to get my work out there so people will buy it. Have any sugestions?

What would be the best way to advertise my greeting cards?
Market your cards on your local cable channel. Place an ad in your local Pennysaver magazine and send some of your cards to your friends so they can possibly display them for you. Word of mouth goes a long way. Also think about renting a cart at your local mall and display all of your cards on your cart so the general public can see what you have to sell.
Reply:Send one to Oprah.

If she likes it, you'll be filthy rich!

Send one to 100 stars...see the response. Wealthy folks love talent, not cookie-cutter crap.

I suggest you spread your work among the elite, and see if traction occurs.

I admire your initiative, and hope you get many good ideas here, as many small business people and artists crave the best answer to your question.

Reply:Intense publicity through internet and other media. Send one to famous people (not only stars but business personalities and politicians too). They won`t spare their precious time looking at your cards, but if they do and get attracted you`ll sure strike a fortune..Good luck

How much is the Online Greeting Cards market worth?

Our company aims to penetrate the lucrative online greeting cards market. However how much is this market actually worth in the UK and the United States of America?

How much is the Online Greeting Cards market worth?
None of the companies in the market have listed stock, so it's very hard to say. The very fact that there are no PLC's in the game is a good indication it's not a huge market.
Reply:As ecards can be had for free, I would expect that money can only be made by advertising on your ecard website.

Name and address of the charity that recycles the fronts of greeting cards?

I am lookig for the aricle about a charity that used the front of greeting cards. My mom and I are sure we read it in Guidepost. And we are both wantng to send the fronts of our greeting cards to the charity. Can anyone help?

Name and address of the charity that recycles the fronts of greeting cards?
At one time I sent my greeting card fronts to Saint Jude's Children's Ranch in Boulder City, Nevada. I am enclosing what I found on their website:

Card Program Overflowing

In recent months the outpouring of support for the children of St. Jude’s Ranch through our Recycled Card Program has been overwhelming! We have received over one million parcels containing card fronts and this is far more than we can now use. In fact, the cost associated with handling so many cards is beginning to draw from funds that are needed to care for our children. Our kids are buried in cards! Some of our children do continue to make and sell cards but St. Jude's Ranch for Children no longer accepts used card fronts.

Our hope is that all of our friends will now focus on sending in Campbell Soup labels (which can be traded for much-needed vans), by purchasing the recycled cards, and most needed of all, making donations.

Cards are available in packages of 10 cards/envelopes for a suggested donation of $8.00, (includes postage and handling fees). If you would like to order packages of recycled greeting cards, send your request and donation to:

Where can I get some copyright free information on making greeting cards?

My wife makes greeting cards as a hobby and I have created a website for her to show off her creations. I would also like to add some tutorials on how to make cards, and information about the products and equipment available, techniques and styles, etc.

My wife is too busy making cards to write and I don't know enough about it myself to write anything of merit.

Do you know of any websites, ebooks, etc, with relevant information that I can copy onto my website? Obviously, they would need to be copyright free or public domain. I wouldn't mind spending some money for a good ebook as long as I would have the right to extract information and display it on the site.

If anyone has written anything that I can use, I'd be grateful if you could let me have it.

Where can I get some copyright free information on making greeting cards?
Why not just include links to other sites such as docrafts. Cardmaking is now a massively popular hobby and there is plenty of info around. Half a dozen monthly magazines, lots of books (check the local library), Craft %26amp; Create and QVC on Sky and the internet, evening classes, workshops, etc. etc.

Mention your local craft shop(s). Your wife's internet suppliers.

There is no need to go to a lot of trouble reinventing the wheel.
Reply:Easiest and cheapest way is to send a design in the post to yourself and do not open it. The envelope is dated so is effectively proof of when it was made. Include any relevant deteils in the envelope.
Reply:I don't have any copy write .But i bought soft ware to make cards from pc world .That is all i can help you with
Reply:This seems to be the "in thing" at the moment

There are about 20 people at work who now sell their home made cards to friends and family

One person has contacted their local shop to see if they could sell their cards

I hope you get some good advice

How long to keep greeting cards?

i have stacks of greeting cards hanging around and im trying to clean out. does anyone keep them like i do or do you throw them out? what should I do with them?

How long to keep greeting cards?
I generaly keep the cards that mean something to me. I generally keep/kept all the cards my grandmothers sent me. I put them in a box with all the cards I send out. So I see them every time I send out a card.

You can tear off the part with the writing on it and give the rest with the picture to an organization that helps disabled people to use to make arts and crafts.
Reply:I keep all of them for the year. At the end of the year (before Christmas), I weed out the special ones (ie, from my great grandmother, husband, children.. etc) and keep them... With the rest of them, I discard the part with the writing on it and donate the covers to a local children's hospital. The hospital uses them for children's crafts that get sent to our servicemen overseas during the holidays.
Reply:I throw them out unless they were sent during a very special time like first anniversity or the year something very special happened with this person.
Reply:I recycle mine to planet ark they usually have rcycle bins at supermarkets around xmas time.
Reply:I keep them if there from someone specal or mean something to me but I try to be selctive so i dont end up with to many

How can I display my many greeting cards?

So many greeting cards, but they are encouraging to read and i would like to display them in a pretty way. Any idea's?

How can I display my many greeting cards?
Get some board or a cork poster board and take some elastic and criss cross the elastic slanted in one direction across the board and then do the opposite direction ....like this ####. That way you can slip your cards under the elastic and you can display them open or closed and even move them around if you wish.

Reply:Use one of those photo holders with clips. I use one for vintage holiday postcards that I put out during various holidays.

Or take a wide silk ribbon, attack a bow at the top and hang it lengthwise on your wall. Attach your cards to the ribbon.
Reply:a photo album is one way, or use scrap booking techinques and make a coffe table book. go to some scrap book sites, one site that comes to mind is howtotvonline .com click on scrapbooking they have so great ideas on preserving letters and cards.

Have fun doing it! I hope this message helped you with your project.

What should I do with greeting cards that have been given to me?

I have a big shoe box of greeting cards that have been given to me over the years and am wondering if there is a creative way that I can use them? I don't want to throw them out but I also don't want to keep them stored in a shoe box in my attic. Anyone have any creative ideas?

What should I do with greeting cards that have been given to me?
You'll have to look around to find them, but there is a charity that accepts greeting cards

Also, a good place to check is...

All the best to you.
Reply:I cut off the front page and re-use it. I trim it a bit and glue it to a blank card. This way if there is any writing on the back of the front page it will be covered. This worked really well with Christmas cards. I had a box of unused cards with really lame pictures. I covered those up with the nice ones and had really pretty ones that were also recycled. You can do the same with any occasion. People seem to really appreciate that they were recycled and saving on waste.
Reply:I keep them for a little while and then put them in the recycling bin. Otherwise it's just hoarding and it adds to the clutter.

.
Reply:lets see... make them into postcards and send them to people...make book marks...make origami things...folded gift boxes...recipe cards...cut them into puzzles after you glue them to heavier cardstock...Christmas ornaments...could put some pretty ones in frames...I once used old ones and patchworked a design put it in a frame and you would never realize it was old cards that you used...

How can I sell my greeting cards ideas online?

I have many great ideas for greeting cards %26amp; I want to sell them online. Please tell me how to sell them. Thanx.

How can I sell my greeting cards ideas online?
I have encountered people using e-bay before. Try it.
Reply:Have you considered cafepress for the fulfillment side of the cards along with a website designed to gather people's interest in your card ideas?

Yes, there are drawbacks to this system but if the card companies don't let you present your ideas to them (very possible) then this may be the way to get started. Make enough money and you could start your own printing company.
Reply:Build yourself a website. Maybe through www.homestead.com, they are not too expensive and then advertise...

Advertising can be expensive.

Try this for advertising...

Reply:You should start by picking up the phone and calling Hallmark, American Greetings or one of the other top greeting card manufacturers and asking them how to submit ideas online. You should also be able to ask the name of the person or people who make those decisions so you are approaching the right people. You don't want to just click on a "contact us" button of a website because I assure you that your email will go to an assistant whose job it is to hit the delete button. Every company has their own ways to purchase ideas so make sure you're using the right method for the right company. Good luck to you in your endeavor. I would suggest reading about creative property in books from your local library. They will help with the legal aspect of protecting your intellectual property rights. Your next action should be a list of greeting card manufacturers and a smile.

What do you do with greeting cards?

I am battling with clutter. I keep finding old birthday, Christmas, wedding, etc cards. I would like to save them for memories but is it really worth it? What do u do with old greeting cards?

What do you do with greeting cards?
i have then stored away like you do. Some people would say throw them away, but when you read them they bring back fond memories, which are priceless....perhaps some day you would sort them out, it is a personal choice really
Reply:Some cards are beautiful matted and framed.
Reply:I would say make a keepsake box and store them in there. If you do decide to throw them away, recycle them.
Reply:I purchased a decorative box to place mine in. There's all different colors, shapes and sizes.
Reply:I have a nice keepsake box I keep all my photo greeting cards in.... Most other cards I throw away a few months after I get them.... I'm NOT much for clutter.. However, if the cards evoke memories why not save the cards for a yr. and then scan and burn them to CD/DVD.. You can do a disk a yr. That way you only have to store a CD/DVD instead of paper cards.... You can just cut the cards in 1/2 and scan the outside and the settement inside..

You can also "recycle" the cards INSTEAD of throwing them away AFTER you scan/burn them... If you like the pictures you can send them to other people as greeting "postcards. Cut the card in 1/2 and use the front with the picture and write your own message.... Send with a postcard stamp...

What weight card stock should I use for greeting cards if I want them to be sturdy?

I guess what I'd like to know is, what weight is the card stock used in Hallmark or American Greeting cards? I've purchased some packages labeled card stock and they are barely heavier than 24 pound typing paper. I'd like something heavier. Thanks for your help!

What weight card stock should I use for greeting cards if I want them to be sturdy?
Hallmark sells a package of blank greeting cards that's 85 lbs. You can buy it at Hallmark or from various stores online.

Reply:My wife always bought paper that was in the 100# range. Nice sturdy paper.
Reply:The cardstock I bought at Wal*Mart is 110 lb weight, made by Georgia Pacific. It is not as nice as Hallmark, etc, but it will hold up for you.

How can I get greeting card companies to consider my artwork for their cards?

Some artists I know think that my work is ideally suited for greeting cards. I'd like to sell art to greeting card companies. Any ideas on the best approaches? Thank you.

How can I get greeting card companies to consider my artwork for their cards?
If you aren't sure where to start, I really, really recomend the book "Artists and Graphic Designer's Market." I included a link to this year's copy. It not only has suggestions for how to submit, but addresses to every greeting card company in America as well as the guidelines for submitting to each. Be warned, though, they're really selective. My boyfriend and I each submit to dozens of things a year, and only every once in a while do our submissions get accepted. The bottom line, though, is to keep trying. If your work at it hard enough and if your art is good, you'll make progress.

Greeting cards?

so, im making two albums full of favorite christmas songs. the plan is to make them into cards. i do not want them to be jewel case cd cards. the one that i received was a cardboard card and when you open it, there were two cd sleeves and u could pull the cd out to listen to them. i cant find any of those cardboard pocketed cards, so i was thinking of just finding the cardboard greeting cards and using the clear adhesive sleeves for the cds. any suggestions or know how or where to find the blank white cards?

Greeting cards?
Caed stock is available at Staples, Ofiice Depot, WalMart and stationary stores in a variety of sizes. You may be able to find the ones for cd's with holiday themes there too. I found them at Staples for the cd's I'm giving as gifts.
Reply:Erm...4 me i think decorated cards are better and if u want to print them just go to the american greetings...or winxclub sorry forgot to write neopets
Reply:yeah.. any office supply store should have them.. maybe a hobby shop also
